Ship&Offshore Special SmartShip 2022

Two in one. Digitalisation and sustainability – two subjects to which we pay extra attention with special annual Ship&Offshore Editions: GreenTech and the present issue of SmartShip. However, these two topics are closely related. The development of digital technologies is not a purpose in itself. Automated and autonomous initiatives in the maritime business invariably have one goal: to make shipping safer and more efficient. In order to fulfil current and upcoming legislation, such as the carbon intensity indicator (CII), for example, accurate and reliable monitoring and the correct evaluation of data is essential. Without accurate digital equipment available on ships themselves, on the cloud and/or on digital systems ashore, the new regulations would have no foundations.
